Blizzard of 1978

Today’s attention may be focused on the blizzard over the east coast, but residents of Cincinnati, Dayton and Columbus remember January 28 for another reason — the blizzard of 1978!

37 years ago today, this once-in-a-lifetime storm paralyzed the region with wind gusts of over 60 MPH, temperatures in the single digits, near-zero visibility, and snow accumulations of a foot or more. Businesses and major highways were closed for days, and the National Guard was brought in to help with the lengthy cleanup.

Were you around for the blizzard of 1978, what do you remember most? Share your story below.
